The position is placed at AstraZeneca's dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.

What you'll do

As a Computational Chemist you will have a profound impact on multiple projects across the CVRM portfolio covering many different modalities (small molecules, peptides, PROTACs, and RNAs). As part of our fantastic, fast-paced computational chemistry team you will operate in a highly cross disciplinary environment in close collaboration with scientists from the Chemistry, Bioscience, DMPK, Biophysics and Pharmaceutical Sciences departments. You will have a key role in modelling, analysis of large datasets, drug design and you will be a significant contributor to discovery project progression. You will also be involved in building and driving our future design capabilities to tackle difficult targets and implementation of Augmented Drug Design across our portfolio. You will join a great team of highly-skilled and experienced computational chemists mastering all contemporary design capabilities like MD, FEP, ML and AI.

* You will simultaneously impact multiple discovery projects by efficiently and pro-actively applying a wide variety of computer-aided drug design approaches
* You will be expected to plan, write and publish high quality scientific papers

Essential for the role

In this key role you will bring your solid computational chemistry experience to the drug discovery project portfolio. We are looking for a drug hunter with a PhD (or equivalent experience) in computational chemistry. You have a high degree of independence and a proven record of excellence in a number of computer-aided drug design techniques. You also have:

* Solid knowledge of computer-aided drug design and modern medicinal chemistry.
* Expertise in using standard computational chemistry software.
* Ideally having industry experience in drug design.
* Expertise in biophysics, structural modeling and methods to study protein dynamics.
* Knowledge in scientific computing, and programming skills (e.g. Python) is an advantage.
* Expertise in machine-learning methods is a plus.
* Excellent communication skills in English is required.

If you have the ability to influence both people and science and thrive on team work in a multidisciplinary environment, you will fit right in at AstraZeneca!
