We are now recruiting a Senior Scientist or Associate Principal Scientist to join the Bioscience Renal in vitro team within the Early Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) therapeutic area. The position is placed at AstraZeneca's vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.

As a Senior Scientist or Associate Principal scientist at the Bioscience Renal department at AstraZeneca you will be part of a vibrant team that focus on finding new treatment options to patients with renal disease. In the in vitro team we work with various pre-clinical models and different drug modalities. As a Senior Scientist you will take part in both establishing new methods, using a wide array of established analysis in cell culture and advanced 3D models as well as being part of project teams. As an Associate Principal Scientist, you will in addition be driving the science by leading the renal biology in projects and taking part of identification of new renal targets. At AstraZeneca, you will work together with experts from different functions and be part of project teams.

What you'll do

With a passion for science, you will support our growing portfolio in the Renal disease area. You will independently design, plan and perform high quality in vitro experiments. You will identify and implement new methods/assays relevant for renal disease area and use a wide array of the latest technologies to analyse biological samples.

This lab-based role can be at Senior Scientist or Associate Principal Scientist (APS) level depending on the experience of the successful candidate.

Other accountabilities:

Performing conceptual interpretation and presentation of generated data
*

Acting as Bioscience representative in projects
*

Delivering data, reports, and regulatory documents
*

Showing scientific leadership in areas associated with the role - renal biology - by presenting data internally and externally as well as writing manuscripts for publication in high quality journals (APS)

Essential for the role

*

Experience from in vitro work in molecular biology and other technologies such as western blot and ELISA
*

Extensive expertise in cell culture related work
*

PhD in biology, biotechnology, biomedicine, physiology or medicine (APS role)
*

Expertise in renal biology (APS role)
*

Experience in cell imaging
*

Proven publication record
*

Strong oral and written communication skills. English is essential, Swedish is appreciated but is not a requirement
*

Experience from Pharmaceutical industry is desirable
