We are hiring a Senior Scientist with focus on Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry in Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity (RIA). Our department is focused on driving discovery research to deliver world-class medicines with an emphasis on small to large sized synthetically accessible molecules. The team operates in a cross-disciplinary environment in close collaboration with scientists from the Chemistry, Bioscience, DMPK and Pharmaceutical Science departments.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
In this position, you will get the opportunity to work in the whole range of medicinal chemistry, from target validation to lead optimization phase. This will include synthesis, purification and characterization of lead molecules as well as compound design. You will ensure uptake of novel scientific developments in synthetic organic chemistry into the teams and projects and influence compound design by generating ideas for novel molecules from recent progress in synthetic Organic Chemistry. You will also be expected to share scientific findings and publish new scientific results both internally and externally.
We will expect you to:
* Provide state-of-the-art Synthetic Organic Chemistry by delivering high quality drug molecules and tool compounds
* Apply synthetic chemistry with an idea generation mindset, efficiently troubleshooting problems and maintaining a clear focus and impact on project progression
* Provide a significant level of expertise in synthetic chemistry methods, purification and analytical sciences to efficiently deliver high quality compounds within agreed timelines
* Collaborate with the project chemistry team in the development, planning and prioritization of compound synthesis, route design and problem solving
* Provide quality input into compound design depending on project needs
Essential Requirements
We believe that you have a strong scientific background in Organic Chemistry with strong written and oral communication skills. In addition, you possess an ability to engage and collaborate across boundaries with a can-do attitude and a clear delivery focus.
* PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or Biochemistry
* In-depth scientific knowledge in modern synthetic chemistry and fully updated with the application of modern purification and analytical techniques
* A proven track record of successful delivery of own experimental work
Desirable Requirements
* PostDoc within related field
* Industrial experience from a Pharmaceutical Company
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process
