Are you an experienced professional in drug discovery and development? We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Discovery & Early Research team at Chiesi Global Rare Diseases. This is an opportunity to work within an innovative and cutting-edge advanced therapeutic program.

The candidate will be a member of the extended discovery team supporting a new gene editing program and working closely with members of the pre-clinical and technical CMC teams. You will be responsible for overseeing the development, qualification, and implementation of bioanalytical assays to support internal and external in vitro and in vivo experiments. The work will require outsourcing of methods to contract research organisations, including detailed oversight of these outsourced work packages and project partners.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage external method development outsourced to 3rd party CROs and project partners
• Involvement in the development and implementation of advanced methodologies for the detection of on and off-targeting editing following CRISPR-CAS and Prime enzymes
• Oversee the development and qualification of bioanalytical methods for the quantification of drugs and biomarkers in biological matrices. Hands-on development work could be required
• Bioanalytical analysis of multi-component advanced therapeutics containing non-viral lipid nanoparticles, synthetic RNA and mRNA constructs. The methods will include, but not be limited to:

• * next generation sequencing, RT-qPCR or digital-PCR,
• * LC-MS/MS and HPLC
• * Western blot or ELISA immune assays and enzymatic activity assays

• Prepare technical study reports that will support future regulatory filings
• Collaboration with other scientists and departments to support preclinical and clinical studies
• Maintaining and keeping pace with science in the area.

About you

To be successful in this role you need at least five years of relevant experience across post-doctoral academic and/or industrial roles, with strong knowledge of bioanalytical methods and hands-on expertise in developing, qualifying, and reporting on bioanalytical and functional assays. You bring experience in managing outsourced bioanalytical activities with contract laboratories or external partners. As a person, you have excellent communication and presentation skills in English.. You are responsible and decisive as well as highly organised and have good time-management skills. We see that you can work both independently as well as part of a team.
