hela Sverige Are you interested in how the sharing and collaboration of open technologies, including open source software, open data, and open standards, can enhance open innovation within the private and public sectors? Do you want to work with exciting, applied research projects to explore how such sharing and collaboration can improve the future of mobility? Then RISE Mobility and Systems has an exciting job for you!
We are looking for a senior researcher with a sincere interest in sharing and collaborating on open technologies, located in Umeå, Stockholm, Göteborg or Lund.
We are looking to expand our research activities in our existing industrial ecosystem, as well as widen it with new partners, and increase cooperation with universities and institutes that focus on digitalization, societal impact, and future mobility.
About us
Digital Innovation is a unit within Mobility and Systems with a mission to perform research and apply knowledge to address societal challenges using digital innovation as the unit of analysis. Our research aims to identify and explore possibilities and effects from digital technologies to guide how digitalization can create value for agencies, industries, and society, with a focus on but not limited to mobility and transportation. We are currently 12 researchers in the unit.
About the position
With this position, we aim to strengthen our capacity to explore how the sharing and collaboration of open technologies can contribute to new services and solutions for society. Open Technologies refers to data, specifications, and software that is shared, reused, and collaboratively developed between its users and stakeholders. You will carry out projects with other team members and cooperate closely with industrial and academic partners. Your assignments will include both publicly funded research projects and direct assignments with private companies or publicly funded agencies. You will work in a passionate team with a lot of individual freedom.
We are looking for a candidate who will create, conduct, and lead research projects in close collaboration with other researchers and project managers. A requirement for this position is that you can strengthen both the internal RISE network of open technologies experts and contribute to establishing RISE as a renowned open technology innovation partner for the industry and public agencies.
Specifically, we are looking to complement our team with someone who has extensive experience and knowledge of policy on a national or European level. We are especially interested in competencies related to how regulatory frameworks governing, e.g., digital services, interoperability, data governance, data sharing, data protection, AI, and cybersecurity interplay with and affect the adoption and role of open technologies. The ability to understand, quantify, and explain the economic and societal impact of open technologies is also of value. Experience and knowledge of standardization and enabling interoperability from an open technologies perspective is also of particular interest for the position.
Who are you?
We are looking for a person with an extensive research background in open technologies both within the public and private sectors. Your interest in digital technology is matched with a genuine understanding that inter-organizational relationships are key in building new knowledge and driving change using open technologies. You have experience from applying for external research funding and participating in applied research involving corporate and public partners.
The following non-exhaustive list shows areas of expertise and abilities which are of particular interest for the position:
- Ph.D. in a relevant field of research.
- Important areas: open innovation, open data, open source software, open standards, collaboration and co-development, policy.
- Knowledge of how regulatory frameworks governing, e.g., digital services, interoperability, data governance, data sharing, data protection, AI, and cybersecurity interplay with and affect the adoption and role of open technologies in industry and society.
- Experience and knowledge of economic impact analysis and standardization in the context of open technologies.
- Experience in working on research projects with private and public entities.
- Experience in project management and securing funding for research projects.
- An interest to adopt experiences in standardization, sharing, and collaboration of open technologies in the transport and logistic sector.
Are we right for each other?
At RISE, we like to think differently, and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. We do not promise you an easy job, but we can promise an exciting journey where we, together with committed and competent colleagues, contribute to a sustainable future, knowledge development, and to securing an edge in global competition.
