Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) seeks a talented and motivated senior researcher for the peace and development programme of study.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) is an independent international institute whose core mission is to undertake research and activities on security, conflict and peace. Established in 1966, SIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on open sources, to policymakers, researchers, media and the interested public. The peace and development programme of study is one of three broad areas of study in the new SIPRI research architecture (the other two being armament & disarmament and conflict & peace). This programme of study is comprised of four thematic areas (peace and prosperity; gender, marginalization and insecurity; private sector and peace; and climate change and conflict). This study area contributes chapters in the annual SIPRI Yearbook, publishes regularly in academic and policy outlets and is responsible for the overall organization and delivery of the annual Stockholm Forum on Security & Development.

Tasks and responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the incoming Senior Researcher include:
• Designing, conducting, writing and disseminating her/his own high quality research;
• Preparing research proposals to secure future funding;
• Working with the director of studies to ensure delivery of the activities of the broader programme of study;
• Managing and mentoring junior staff;
• Assisting the Director of Study with financial management, budgeting and oversight for the programme.

Contract period: Starting from 1 October 2016 or as soon as possible. The appointment will be for two years initially. The post is full-time and requires residence in Stockholm. The salary package will be negotiated individually.
