The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is among the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe with special focus on increasing our knowledge of the aetiology of different diseases. Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors and database administrators as well as administrative personnel, in total some 250 staff. Duties

The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics is seeking a researcher to join the faculty.

We want to strengthen the faculty and recruit a researcher working on the growing area of cardio-renal epidemiology and with the potential to become a world class researcher in the area. The work will primarily be own research. The position can be combined with clinical work. The successful candidate is expected to stimulate and develop growth in his/her area of epidemiology and to contribute to the training of undergraduate and graduate students in scientific methodology. The successful candidate is expected to further develop the department's work within the field to a high international competitiveness. Some teaching in the department's undergraduate and/or graduate programs is expected in the position, particularly in the Scientific Development in the medical program, but this is a minor part of the position.

Entry requirements

A person is eligible to be appointed Senior Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant professor.

In addition to this, applicants for the position must demonstrate excellent scientific skills. Applicants must have had publications of exceptional high-quality research in international journals with high impact in the last five to seven-year-period, and have the potential to become one of the leading international authorities in the advertised area as well as a researcher of international renown in this field. Applicants must have been the principal recipients of research funding granted in national or international competition during the last five-year-period, and show potential to secure further funding within his/her research area. Ongoing or past supervision of PhD students as well as documented national and international collaborations in the area of investigation is also a requirement. Documented competence in maintaining and developing large databases are also requirements.
