hela Sverige Senior Research Scientist ? In Vitro Systems Electrophysiologist, Analgesia
We are now recruiting a Senior Research Scientist for a six months assignment, preferably the candidate start as soon as possible, location Södertälje.
The role
This is a lab-based role and you will contribute to the Analgesia projects by providing data derived from electrophysiological experiments, performed on in vitro/ex vivo neuronal tissues. Focus will be on extracellular recordings made from isolated preparations involving sensory nerves, to better understand the biology of the primary afferent and also to pharmacologically profile compounds of interest. The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter who will be responsible for experimental design and the generation, interpretation and communication of data. There is an expectation that the candidate will contribute to the scientific understanding of our targets and that they will collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines to ensure the success of our projects.
Minimum experience
We are looking for a PhD scientist with post-doctoral experience, gained in the field of in vitro ?systems? electrophysiology. Expertise in extracellular recording methodologies involving primary afferent neurons is required.
The individual should be able to propose experimental strategies, designing and carrying out own experiments to address the needs of the projects. They will be able to troubleshoot problems and make a significant contribution to the practical and timely delivery of data of the highest quality. In addition, the candidate must possess a sound understanding of analgesia and the mechanisms contributing to nociceptor sensitization, excitability and ectopia.
Preferred experience/requirements
Previous experience in a Drug Discovery environment would be preferred.
They successful candidates will recognize and understand the needs of the projects and align their work accordingly. The individuals should be good communicators and be able to fully represent their own discipline in cross-functional project teams. They must be focused on delivery into the projects and be able to help foster a positive team environment. They must keep up to date with relevant breaking science and publish their work in high impact journals to raise the profile of AstraZeneca in the outside scientific community.
