Arena:
Central for success of the R&I iMed is the creation of biosignatures. More specifically this describes the integration of all the data we have on the target and the compound with the information around the disease targeted, with regard to the latter it is needed to create an integrated approach of clinical, imaging and biological sources, this is called the biosignature and the translational group will be accountable
We have two openings for SRSs, one the in COPD section and one in the Asthma and Inflammation section of translational Sciences Department.
Job Purpose:
To design, develop and conduct experiments to support translational science aspects of project with particular reference to creating evidence around a biosignature. Able to clearly identify how the science they drive will support projects in their success.
To be lab-based, propose experimental strategies, troubleshoot problems and to make a significant contribution to the practical delivery of projects in accordance with SHE requirements and in compliance with all AZ Corporate responsibility policies.
Accountabilities:
To work independently to contribute to the design and analysis of experimental procedures by incorporating the views of others
To show self-awareness of training needs including leadership development
To interpret experimental data and play a significant role in the planning of further experiments
To maintain an awareness of current developments in the literature
To act as a mentor, coach and role model for research scientists
To contribute to the continuous improvement process by identifying opportunities in the workplace where improvements can be made
To be an effective team member in supporting Discovery Projects to meet their objectives
To identify and solve problems associated with their experiments
To use judgment and knowledge where appropriate to influence the work of the project, team, section and department
To achieve personal scientific visibility through project contributions, internal presentations and publications
To contribute to writing abstracts/patents and peer-reviewed publications
To schedule agreed work-plans over agreed timelines to such that the objectives of the team are met
To conduct where appropriate in parallel more than one agreed area of work to agreed timelines
To participate in and contribute to local discipline review groups
To participate in the evaluation of external collaborations
Will understand Platform of Evidence concepts and apply thinking into their own work delivering to projects
May lead one or more aspects of the scientific discipline within their team and early projects and/or act as early project leaders (preLOID)
