The Role
We are currently looking for innovative and highly motivated scientists to join the Translational Science department within the Respiratory, Inflammation and Autoimmunity Innovative Medicine Unit in Gothenburg, Sweden. Successful candidates will become part of a newly formed, creative and flexible team that investigates novel therapeutic avenues for autoimmune and respiratory diseases. We are interested in scientists with a strong background in cell biology and immunology. An interest in innate and adaptive immune drivers of airway inflammatory diseases such as COPD and Asthma is desirable. In the role you will combine hands-on scientific input into our research activities with scientific leadership from the lab. We are specifically looking for strong practical expertise in a range of immunological and cell biology techniques including multi-parameter flow cytometry, T-cell culture, lymphocyte activation and primary cell separation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Drive new target ideas and validate those in relevant human primary cellular systems.
Develop biomarker strategies for our discovery projects including biomarker identification which allows for patient segmentation
Support discovery projects, build scientific understanding of the disease areas and develop/refine state of the art cell models.
Communicating results within AstraZeneca and externally at meetings and through
high impact publications.
Education/Experience
Suitable candidates should hold a PhD or MD in a relevant scientific discipline and extensive hands on research experience in the study of respiratory diseases and /or immunology
A proven track record in research in respiratory diseases and /or immunology as shown by publication in high quality journals
Excellent team playing and communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment, providing leadership and insight in the discipline
