The arena
The role will be based in the Bioscience Department of the Respiratory, Inflammation and Autoimmune (RIA) Innovative Medicines Unit at one of AstraZenecas main R&D centres in Mölndal, Sweden. There you will drive science within drug discovery projects and build knowledge in RIA disease areas.
The role
We are looking for an exceptional scientist with a PhD or equivalent background with proven expertise in the use of immunohistochemistry and image analysis techniques. Experience in the study and investigation of respiratory and inflammatory diseases and the discovery or validation of biomarkers to understand patient segmentation would be highly desirable.
The role will be lab-based and involve the below tasks and accountabilities
To use immunochemistry and image analysis to determine the expression of potential drug targets in human and animal tissue
To drive the science and use of advanced image analysis techniques to understand pathways of interest in RIA diseases
To independently design, conduct and analyze experiments.
To be an effective team member of drug discovery projects
To achieve personal scientific visibility through project contributions, internal presentations and publications
To maintain an awareness of current developments in the literature.
To acts as a mentor, coach and role model for research scientists
Minimum experience
Have a Ph.D in a relevant scientific discipline or a BSc/MSc. degree with relevant hands-on experience
Expertise in immunohistochemical methods and/or image analysis
Preferred experience/requirements:
Knowledge of immunology, respiratory, inflammatory or autoimmune diseases
Ability to work collaboratively
Excellent communication and networking skills
Strong scientific interest, knowledge and enthusiasm
