Are you a curious scientist, motivated by challenging the boundaries of science that would like to contribute to our strategy of growth through Innovation? Do you have expertise and experience of analytical chemistry applied to cell-based assays and mass spectrometry? Perfect, this might be the position for you!

A new position has arisen for a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist to join the Mechanistic Biology & Profiling Department within the Discovery Sciences R&D organization in Gothenburg, Sweden. You will work together with existing team members to characterize molecules and their responses in biochemical and cellular assays to build a detailed understanding of their mechanism of action.

We are specifically looking for combined analytical chemistry and cell biology expertise to adopt new mass spectrometry-based approaches to understand cellular uptake and functional responses of PROTACs and to build predictive models of these actions based on their physicochemical properties.

What you'll do:
This is a lab-based role, providing dedicated experimental support to our PROTACs and other drug discovery programs. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality data to build a detailed understanding of the relation between PROTACs exposure, bioavailability, and observed pharmacology in terms of their impact on protein levels and functional responses. The work includes independent planning and execution of experiments, troubleshooting and timely reporting of data according to agreed timelines.

Essential in this role:

* Candidates should have a Ph.D. or a first degree and at least 4 years' experience within a relevant scientific discipline
* Extensive hands-on expertise in analytical chemistry applied to cell-based assays, ideally using a range of different technologies
* Significant experience with the quantitative application of mass spectrometry, e.g. in the metabolomics space
* Experience with methodologies that allow measurements of metabolites and compounds with sub-cellular resolution is considered highly meriting
* Scientific visibility and leadership through project contributions and external publications

Desirable in the role:

* Documented expertise in quantitative assessments of protein turnover
* Demonstrated abilities in linking protein levels and turnover to protein function
* Practical knowledge of the application of cellular assays for pharmacological profiling
* Proven ability in providing technical leadership and mentorship to others
* Track record of identifying and adopting scientific and technical advances

The successful candidate demonstrates a strong passion for driving scientific questions through experimental work, combined with strong team working ethics. You have good social and communication skills, is collaborative and a strong team player. You should also be able to work independently and have a positive, goal oriented and problem-solving attitude. Excellent English is required, both spoken and written, and good organisational skills are of use.
