We are glad to inform that there is a new request from AstraZeneca, for a consultant assignment as a Research Scientists/Senior Research Scientists within the Bioscience Lung Epithelium Department.

The Role
As a Senior Research Scientist or Research Scientist consultant- Lung Epithelium you will be placed in the Bioscience Lung Epithelium Department within the Respiratory, Inflammation and Autoimmunity IMED. The department is dedicated to conducting research to promote lung epithelial health with the aim to develop novel treatments for respiratory diseases including COPD, Asthma and pulmonary fibrosis. Important research questions include (1) the epithelial response to insult (e.g. pathogens and inhaled toxins and irritants) in context of inflammation, host-defense and injury and (2) mechanisms involved in epithelial maintenance and repair. The Lung Epithelium Department offers a dynamic and science-centric research environment bringing together internal scientists, post-docs and students and, importantly, external academic collaborators with the shared ambition to do great science in order to address unmet patient needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Independently (SRS) or with supervision (RS) designs, performs and analyses experiments and identifies and solves associated problems.
• Independently (SRS) or with supervision (RS) interprets experimental data and plans further experiments.
• As an effective and committed team member supports drug discovery projects to meet objectives and milestones.
• Is able to conduct more than one area of work in parallel to agreed timelines when required.
• Independently (SRS) or with supervision (RS) schedules work-plans over agreed timelines so that the team objectives are met.
Essential Requirements:
• PhD with Post-doc experience (SRS), MSc (RS) or otherwise relevant experimental experience.
• Experience in handling and characterizing airway epithelial cells including cell lines and primary epithelial cells.
• Experience with air liquid interface cultures and more complex co-culture systems.
• Excellent general laboratory skills and knowledge of commonly used techniques.
• Strong delivery focus and good communication skills.
