• To develop imaging-based cellular assays for target identification, target validation and phenotypic assay development
• To use qualitative and quantitative image-based cellular assays and analysis methods for drug screening, cell profiling/QC and protein expression/functionality in a biologically and statistically relevant manner
• Expertise in cell-based assay design including knowledge of detection technologies, including spectroscopic (e.g. absorbance, fluorescence modalities), luminescent, label-free detection and imaging
• Practical understanding of assay development and optimisation, including statistical tools such as factorial experimental design, to enable generation of robust, reproducible and sensitive assays
• Culturing and functional characterization of cell lines with a focus on primary cells and stem cells
The following skills are highly desirable:
• Ability to develop imaging and non-imaging assays for predefined endpoints and/or investigate assay space to determine optimum endpoint for projects
• Applying novel and published stem/progenitor cell differentiation protocols to deliver human native-like cells for assays
• Applying Precise Genome Editing (CrispR) techniques to develop cellular systems for target validation and assays
• In depth knowledge of one or both imaging platforms (Image Express & Arrayscan) which can be used to generate multiparameter cellular data
• Familiarity with statistical analysis of complex data sets
Accountabilities
• To interpret experimental data and play a significant role in the planning of further experiments
• To maintain an awareness of current developments in the literature
• To contribute to the continuous improvement process by identifying opportunities in the workplace where improvements can be made
