For AstraZeneca we are now looking for a Senior Research Scientist in the field of Cell Biology, Stem Cells and Insulin Sensitivity. The consultant assignment will start in February and go on until 2015-06-30 will possibilty for extension.

Publiceringsdatum2014-12-18Dina arbetsuppgifterYour will be working within a multi-discipline department working with metabolic, cardiovascular and kidney diseases. The drug hunting activities also spans into many different modalities including small molecules, peptide and nucleotides. As a Cell Biologist for Insulin Sensitivity you will support drug discovery projects with scientific input in the in vitro assay strategy and deliver key in vitro and ex vivo decision making data.
Your main responsibilities will be:
• apply existing in vitro and ex vivo assays
• cell culture
• ELISA
• qPCR is a must
• fat cells biology
• metabolic assays
• ndependently design and execute in vitro or ex vivo experiments
• statistical analysis and interpretation of generated data
• presentation of data at the team and project team level
• document the work according to standards, and prepare the preclinical pharmacology part of regulatory documents
• work collaboratively with in vivo, and other scientists as required to ensure flow-scheme connectivity and translatability between in vivo and in vitro models
• contribute proactively to a vibrant and innovative working environment
• ensure compliance with corporate code of conduct guidance and other safety standards
You will be lab based, delivering key in vitro and ex vivo data to project teams within the agreed timelines and to the right quality.
Utbildning/erfarenhet
You have a PhD in a related field or degree in relevant discipline and a broad expertise in cell biology & biochemistry and are experienced in establishing/performing cell based assays from the pharmaceutical industry. You are experienced in independently design and conduct of in vitro experiments and analyzes & evaluation of data and are also used to present the data at project team meetings. Furthermore you have a deep understanding of cell and molecular biology and statistical analysis of data. Addionionally you have scientific knowledge in the Diabetes field and of fat cells in general and strong oral and written communication skills in English.
