We have an opening for a Senior Research Engineer position in our Products & Processes Research (PPR) department in Stenungsund, Sweden. As Senior Research Engineer PPR you will be acting as Site responsible engineer for the Pilot Plant.
Your main responsibilities will be to solve complex problems related to our products and processes in order to maintain and/or develop our businesses. You will manage different projects, in many case global, with the aim to introduce new or/and modified products and give technical support to the manufacturing organization, primarily in Stenugsund. In addition, you will act as a specialist within PPR and contribute with key competence regarding Pilot Plant, chemical technology, preparation and process development, optimization and safety.
The main tasks and responsibilities will be:
• Project management of new / modified products. Responsible
for preparing the process package for the plants in product
introductions
• A key member working with introductions of new /modified
products and process technology support to the manufacturing
organization. Work tasks include execute, coordinate and lead:
• Laboratory testing to determine process conditions and / or
evaluate process alternatives
• Pilot plant trials for scaling up processes and recipes etc
• Preparation of operating procedures and manufacturing
specifications
• Monitoring of initial production together with plant personnel
• Documentation and reporting of findings and results
• Participate in optimization and trouble-shooting by supplying
process chemistry know-how via own competence and (internal)
network
• Request and interpretation of analyses
• Lead investment projects within the pilot plant and ensure that
the pilot plant is maintained according to AkzoNobel standards
• Coordination of preliminary cost calculations of new products
• Preparation of product samples for evaluation by internal or
external customers
• Maintain interaction with internal and external customers, as well
as counterparts at other locations.
We also believe that you have a strong focus on the Health, Safety and Environment questions.
We are looking for an individual with Licentiate/PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and 3-4 years relevant working experience or M.Sc. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and additional education in specific field and 5-7 years of relevant experience.
To be successful in this position you have excellent skills in process chemistry, chemical engineering, organic chemistry and process safety. Excellent skills regarding equipment and practical lab/pilot work is required. In addition, you have excellent project management skills.
On a personal level you are proactive, able to prioritize and enjoy working towards continuous improvements. You have good communication and interpersonal skills, are fluent in English, both written and spoken since you will be working in international working environment.
Additional information
This is a permanent position on a full time basis, reporting to the Group Head PPR. Functionally you will report to project leaders within Global R&D, Section managers within TS&d and Technology Manager SCE/Operations.
