hela Sverige Linköping Univeristy hereby advertises a position as Senior research engineer in Proteomics, in particular for studies of the central nervous system. Formally based at Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine.
Duties
The holder of the position is intended to provide qualified advice and technical assistance to researchers within the strategic research are Systems Neurobiology at Linköping University, but there will also be time allocated for the successful applicant to carry out independent technically oriented research.
The position encompasses the following:
• General and specified advice to research groups interested in analyses involving separation and identification of protein, and the design of study protocols for such analyses
• Supervision ? both theoretical and practical ? of researchers in the use of protein separation-, characterization- and identification techniques
• Laboratory work with specialized techniques in proteomics that are not easily acquired by scientists that do not regularly use such techniques
• Technological development within the successful applicant?s own field of interest, amounting to 30% of working hours
Qualifications
The successful applicant shall hold a doctoral degree or the corresponding qualification. In addition, it is required that the successful applicant show documented knowledge about advanced methods for the separation, isolation, purification, and identification of proteins and peptides. This may involve chromatographic separation of biomolecules; identification and quantification of protein expression patterns, including phosphorylation/dephosporylation, in parenchymal organs and tissue fluids with 2-DG and LC-MS/MS analysis; computer-assisted analysis of proteomic data; immunoseparation of cell populations and affinity purification of immunoglobulins for specific antigen detection; extraction and column chromatography purification of proteins and peptides for detection of their amino acid sequence. Knowledge and experience in animal experiments, including the national and international regulations of such work is an advantage. The successful applicant shall be fluent in English.
