Your future work assignments
Your tasks will consist of two principal components where one comprise development of in situ methods for advanced electron microscopy of the 2-dimensional material MXene (~40%) and the other comprise the service for colleagues at the department (~40%). In addition, there will be a possibility to propose own research activities, preferably in line with the department activities (~20%). Your results will be communicated in journal articles and at international conferences by yourself and by colleagues. You are therefore expected to contribute to an active scientific discussion and to use your expertise to advance the understanding.
Your future workplace
You will work at the Thin Film Physics Division, and specifically in the Electron Microscopy of Materials unit (EMM). The EMM maintains the electron microscopy laboratory at LiU, including a double corrected and monochromated Titan3, which the candidate will use as the main tool for characterization. The research immediate environment is focused on Materials Science and is successful in attracting large grants for work with application inspired fundamental research. Materials include thin films for hard coatings, semiconductors for high power, high frequency applications, semiconductor nanowires, nanoparticles for catalytic applications and 2D materials such as graphene and above all MXene for energy storage and catalytic applications.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who has a PhD in materials Science, Inorganic Chemistry or similar and good communication and writing skills. We also believe that you have a solid record in advanced electron microscopy and spectroscopy methods, image simulations and/ or calculations. You're probably a very motivated and driven individual, capable of working both alone and in a team, and with multiple projects in parallel.
