Electromobility Sub-system team is seeking an Electric Energy Storage Systems Expert to strengthen our battery team with main focus on system design and implementation in vehicles architecture.

We are a global team of dedicated experts that are responsible for research and early development of new technologies within the areas of hybrid electric powertrains, electrical energy storage systems, electric machines and drives and vehicle charging technology. The group runs and participates in a wide range of projects with long-term goals.

Core Responsibilities

• Take a lead in advancing battery system designs for next generations of Volvo hybrid and electric vehicles
• Identify key technical issues and propose solutions for implementation of energy storage devices
• Identify and help develop long-term strategies with respect to alternative uses of advanced batteries for a "second life" as well as for vehicle-to-grid opportunities.
• Take lead for technology development assignments, create project schedules and budgets
• Manage projects to completion
• Follow technology state-of-the art, identify trends and give input to creation of the technology roadmaps

Requirements

• M.Sc. or PhD Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
• Deep knowledge of battery architectures and battery management systems in automotive applications
• System integration experience, defining interfaces, requirements, specifications
• Expertise in working in a high voltage and high current environment
• Electric and Hybrid Vehicle knowledge is a merit
• Excellent spoken and written English

As this is a senior position with elements of leadership and work autonomy we think that the right candidate has about 5 years of experience in the advanced battery industry at either an OEM or tier1 supplier.
