RISE Bioeconomy is searching for a Senior Research Associate with expertise in Papermaking and related processes. Your main responsibilities will be to initiate and lead new and groundbreaking research projects relating to the production of packaging, tissue, print and specialty grades as well as novel, paper-based products for future applications. This will include formulating hypotheses, designing and structuring R&D projects, and setting goals based on client needs. Within this position, you will work cross collaboratively with other researchers in the areas of cellulose fiber technology, stock design, paper chemistry, process technology, new materials and material characterization. You will also work closely with our state of the art lab and pilot environment, including the planning and execution of production trails on our paper machine FEX. As this position is a senior roll, you will be expected to have a well-established industrial network and communicate closely with existing and potential clients on a regular basis.
Qualifications
PhD in Paper Technology, Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering or related fields.
At least 5 (preferably 10) years' experience working directly with paper/board/tissue products, either for a producer, equipment or chemical supplier, consultant or research institute within the the pulp & paper industry.
An in depth technical knowledge of at least one of (preferably several) cellulose fibres, paper and/or process chemistry, fluid mechanics, paper physics, measurement technology.
An in depth understanding of industrial needs and global trends within pulp and paper.
Able to work well in teams where you may be required to assume a leadership roll as well as work independently.
Able to work in a high paced, competitive environment.
Excellent written and spoken English (strictly required) as well as Swedish.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both internally and externally.

The position is full time and permanent with start-date to be agreed upon between the successful applicant and RISE.
