RISE Bioeconomy is looking to recruit a Senior Research Associate with expertise in nanocellulose research, with a knowledge of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) and/or nanocellulose hybrid materials. Your main responsibilities will be to initiate new and ground-breaking research projects relating to the production of nanocellulose, nanocellulose (hybrid)materials, the characterization thereof, its applications (films, filaments, foams and formulations) and support sales as a field expert. This will include formulating hypotheses, designing and structuring R&D projects, applying for research funds, setting goals based on client needs and communicating state-of-the-art research. Within this position, you will work cross collaboratively with other researchers and business developers as well as with our lab and pilot environments.
Qualifications
• PhD in materials chemistry, polymer chemistry or fiber technology.
• Documented experience (publications, conference abstracts etc.) of relevant research experience within research fields such as nanocellulose, nanocellulose modification, nanocomposites, surface chemistry, dispersion behavior and colloids.
• Enjoy working in teams where you may be required to assume a team lead role as well as work independently.
• Enjoy working in a high paced, collaborative environment
• Excellent written and spoken English (strictly required) as well as Swedish.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both internally and externally.
• Experience of applying for research funds and good understanding of industrial needs and global trends within the nanocellulose field is considered a merit.

The position is full time and permanent with start-date to be agreed upon between the successful applicant and RISE.
