At the Materials Design and Sintering department, consisting of R&D Technicians, R&D Engineers and experts, we perform research and development of new cemented carbide materials and sintering processes for cutting tools. We develop and implement new technologies in close collaboration with product development and production, and it is our responsibility to secure adequate IP protection for our technology platforms and access to cutting-edge technology for our future products. We are now looking for a Senior R&D Engineer to join our team - a role with large responsibility and with great opportunity to develop further.

The location for this position is Västberga, Stockholm and travel is a natural part of the job.

Key performance areas
As Senior R&D Engineer within this area, you have an important role within a core technological area for Sandvik Coromant business. In this position, you actively participate in, and lead, R&D projects for development of cemented carbide materials for use in our future cutting tool grades. Taking part in different product development projects, you add value by sharing your expertise and know-how about cemented carbide materials and you work with the industrialization of new technologies in production. Furthermore, you also take an active role in external R&D projects, where you collaborate closely with academic partners within the area.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with an MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or a similar field, who has extensive experience working with R&D or the production of cemented carbide materials. You have good technical knowledge of cemented carbide materials and powder metallurgical processes, documented project management skills and experience from working in project form. Additional knowledge in the areas modeling & simulation, material characterization and cutting technology is advantageous. To be successful in this position, you need to be fluent in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
