At Sandvik Cormorant, our expertise in metal cutting is based on a profound understanding of the realities of doing business in our industry, and with a strong focus on customer experience and new industry trends, we're ready for the demands of tomorrow's manufacturing.
We're now looking for an experienced R&D Engineer to join our Cutting Tool Research team. You'll be part of one of the strongest research teams in the world when it comes to cutting tools and you'll generate solutions that end up in our products used by thousands of customers all over the world.
Your mission
In this role, you're focusing on gathering and building the knowledge needed for our company's future products together with your colleagues. An equally important part is to make use of the knowledge, and therefore you support others, codify knowledge and take part in other knowledge sharing activities. You monitor and engage in the global research front within metal cutting and work in knowledge development projects together with skilled and experienced colleagues.
You complement the team with a special focus on robust design, which means that you analyze suggested product solutions and contribute to making them less sensitive to small changes, like variations in production outcome or changes due to usage of the tools.
The location for this position is Sandviken, and you'll have the opportunity to work some of your time remotely. The role requires some business travel.
Your profile
We're looking for someone with a bachelor's degree in engineering or similar field, with proven theoretical and practical experience gained from several years of work in a relevant area. A master's degree and understanding of cutting tools and cutting processes is an advantage, likewise is knowledge in FEM and Matlab. As we operate in an international setting, you're fluent in English, while knowledge of Swedish is a plus.
Your personality truly makes the difference! With a technical interest and your strong analytical skills, you have a good ability to learn and understand advanced technology. You use a systematic and scientific approach in your work, and keeping order and structure is important to you. Eager to learn and share your knowledge, you like to collaborate with others showing team spirit and social agility.
Our culture
At Sandvik Coromant, we believe that diversity of experience, perspective and background leads to a better environment for our employees, our business and our customers. We're looking forward to meeting you!
