About the position
As Senior Platform Engineer at Abion, you will take clear ownership of core infrastructure platforms with primary focus on Nutanix AHV clusters and associated hosting environments. The infrastructure is stable and lifecycle-managed, but the ambition is to raise the engineering maturity further. Your responsibility will be to optimise performance, improve standardisation, strengthen documentation, and ensure long-term scalability and resilience.
You will work hands-on with infrastructure engineering while also leading technical initiatives and improvement projects end-to-end. The role blends platform ownership, project delivery, automation thinking and commercial awareness.
You will be part of the System Engineering team and collaborate closely with both junior engineers and senior stakeholders. While your primary focus is infrastructure and platform engineering, you will operate in a broad environment supporting both internal systems and customer-facing platforms.
After onboarding, you will be included in the on-call rotation together with the team.
Your primary responsibilities
Own Nutanix AHV clusters, storage, performance tuning and lifecycle management.
Standardise and optimise hosting environments (VPS / Web hosting platforms).
Lead capacity planning and disaster recovery testing.
Drive infrastructure improvement projects from scope to delivery.
3rd line troubleshooting.
Maintain clear documentation and raise the overall engineering standard within the team.
About you
To succeed in this role, you are an experienced infrastructure engineer who previously has owned systems and/or platforms, not just supported them. You combine technical depth with accountability and understand how infrastructure decisions impact performance, cost and scalability. You are hands-on and delivery-focused, taking ownership of long-term platform improvements. You have a strong understanding for network infrastructure and security and are proficient working with Palo Alto.
As a person, you are pragmatic, commercially aware and proactive. You are confident mentoring junior engineers and sharing knowledge, while also rolling up your sleeves and solving operational issues when needed. You communicate clearly in both technical and non-technical contexts and can present recommendations in a structured and business-oriented way.
Important for the position
Experience owning production infrastructure environments.
Deep expertise in Nutanix AHV and infrastructure platform engineering.
Experience with Linux or Windows systems administration.
Proven experience delivering technical infrastructure projects.
Strong documentation skills and structured way of working.
Experience working with Palo Alto firewalls.
Fluency in English and preferably also Swedish.
Meritorious
Experience with backup platforms such as Veeam or Cohesity.
DNS platform experience.
Exposure to compliance-driven environments (e.g. ISO 27001).

Start: As agreed upon.Scope: Full-time, 100% + scheduled on-call rotation.
Location: Gothenburg (with some travel to London).
Salary: Fixed monthly salary.
