Job Summary
Tetra Pak's ambition is to lead the global sustainability transformation within our industry. We are investing up to EUR100 million over the next 5-10 years in packaging material innovation. Creating and defending the IPR protection for this investment is one of our key priorities in the Legal Affairs IPR function.
As Senior Patent Counsel within the Legal Affairs - IPR function, you will work within a team of nine senior patent attorneys, three senior trademark attorneys, seven paralegals, and three patent search specialists. You will network with Packaging and Processing engineering teams, legal, and trademark counsel as well as with an established world-wide network of IP agents. For the EPO and the EUIPO, we handle the full range of legal activities inhouse with an emphasis on both legal excellence and technical competence.
This position will be based in Lund, Sweden and report to VP Legal Affairs IPR.
What you will do
As Senior Patent Counsel you will:
Identify and manage the full lifecycle of all IPR assets for a Packaging or Processing unit.
Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications at the EPO and many further jurisdictions.
Lead offensive and defensive patent opposition and appeal proceedings at the EPO.
Perform validity and infringement studies and advise upon potential risks related to 3rd party IPR.
Provide all aspects of IPR guidance to senior management and internal development teams.
Participate in joint development activities with IPR and contractual advice.
Support patent and other IPR-related litigation.
We believe you have
8 - 10 years post qualification experience as European Patent Attorney either in a law firm or a full service inhouse department
Substantial opposition/appeal experience both strategically as well as procedurally
Technical background in material sciences with a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
Full English fluency, professional fluency German highly desired
