The team collaborates with game teams as well as shared tech teams in order to create and maintain the tech that enables the future of King's mobile game development.
Your role within our kingdom
As our Java Backend Developer you will be a part of a team with the mission to build and maintain technology to support the studio in creating our new franchises. This includes integrating with existing tech, developing new creative solutions for our games, investigating problems reported by the game teams and coaching fellow developers. You will work in close collaboration with our game teams and enjoy a creative, challenging and collaborative workplace where your ideas will be every bit as valued as your programming expertise
You will work in a dynamic environment where work is driven by a changing studio portfolio and the requirements of the game teams. Therefore you should be a fast-learner with a positive attitude and a strong passion for working with new technology and be able to jump into any project to quickly adapt and resolve complex problems. You're excited about doing what's best for the games and adaptable enough to work on different things day to day based on their needs. You are passionate about the quality that you and the teams around you deliver automating and improving the processes whenever you can.
Skills to create thrills
You have great passion for system development, new technologies, large scale systems and games in particular. You're an excellent communicator, happy dealing with people from different business units and with varying degrees of technical savvy. Therefore, you're able to translate business needs to technical requirements and implementation. You are not afraid to embrace our DevOps methodology: you promote your code to our production systems and look after it while in production.
Other skills include:
Able to architect, design and implement components, features and systems in Java.
Excited about working on a live game product with a massive number of active users.
Knowledge of databases and general web development.
Able to support game servers from a Level 3 support perspective, investigating issues when escalated.
Experienced working with UNIX environments and Git.
Great communication between our dedicated ops team, client developers and other backend developers.
Ability to work with different teams and provide mentorship to junior developers
Experience with developing backend for mobile apps.
Experience with working with server authoritative solutions.
Bonus points
C# and Unity Knowledge.
Client development experience.
Experience with Gradle build systems.
Experience using Jenkins or other CI systems for automation.
Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
