The Advanced Analytics Center (AAC) uses a blend of scientific and technical skills (statistics, informatics, computer science, mathematics and tool development) to develop and deliver cutting-edge methods which address critical scientific and business questions in drug development.
The Statistical Innovation team is a group in the AAC that provides expert methodological advice to statisticians designing and analysing late Phase clinical trials and the Trial Design Modelling Centre (TDMC) is a group of experts in clinical trial design and decision science. TDMC provides advice to statisticians tasked with designing late Phase clinical trials.
As the Senior Modelling and Simulation Specialist you will report to the Head of Statistical Innovation and become a member of the TDMC.
You will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support for the modelling and simulation part of TDMC and other projects. You will use a range of statistical software to apply a range of statistical theories and methods and provide the team with a range of innovative solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will provide advanced technical expertise on Statistical computing (in modelling and simulation) to staff within AstraZeneca. You will be required to conduct a wide range of complex statistical analyses on an individual basis or with a team of statisticians working in the same field. You will take part in the user acceptance testing of novel statistical tools, ensuring that new tools are developed and validated to AstraZeneca and regulatory standards.
Your other duties will include: Keeping own knowledge of best practices up-to-date and identify new relevant developments by learning from senior management and key stakeholder, analyse information to determine project requirements. You will review working practices and ensures non-compliant processes are escalated as well as ensure own work is compliant with Clinical Development.
Essential Requirements
* MSc degree in Biostatistics or equivalent
* Experience of modelling, simulation, and statistical computing, primarily R
* Knowledge of drug development, and the corresponding application of biomedical data analysis and interpretation in that domain
Desirable requirements
* Experience within the pharmaceutical industry
