Are you passionate about mine planning and want to be part of our work in one of the world's most high-tech underground iron ore mine? We are seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our Mine Planning team in Kiruna, Sweden.
Shaping the future
At LKAB, we are leading the transformation of our industry toward a sustainable future. Just as we aim to reshape the world, we are committed to developing every individual on our team, both personally and professionally. Are you ready to help shape the future of the mining and mineral industry?
Your role
As we mine at greater depths, we face new and complex challenges that require more efficient ways of working. That is why continuous improvement is essential. As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will be a key driver of improvement initiatives - from reconciliation processes to identifying and proposing measures that enhance productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will be part of a diverse and multicultural mine planning department and report directly to our Group Manager.
In addition, you will:
Ensure that mine planning deliverables meet the planning calendar requirements following the company's interest. This includes the LOMP through to the monthly plan.
Contribute significantly to the development and updating of the cave management plan
Implement and maintain mine planning standards, in collaboration with strategic planning group regarding mine design and mine schedule guidelines
Coaching and technical development of the mine planning-design team.
What you bring
We are looking for a Mining Engineer with a minimum of a B.Sc. and at least five years of relevant experience in mine planning - preferably in a caving environment - and ideally around ten years of overall experience in the mining industry.
You are someone who enjoys thinking ahead, taking initiative, and working in a setting where things can shift quickly. You value teamwork and open communication, and you know that good collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders is key to getting things done well.
In addition, we believe you bring:
A solid understanding of the full mine planning process, including ground control management, planning software, cut-off grade (COG) calculations, and modifying factors
A valid driver's license equivalent to a Swedish B-class license
Fluency in English, both spoken and written. Swedish is meritorious, regardless of proficiency level
What we offer
Relocation support for you and your family.
Excellent conditions for settling in. We guide you through the official procedures necessary to settle in the country if you come from outside Sweden. We also provide temporary accommodation for a reasonable period and help you find a permanent place to live according to your personal needs.
LKAB helps you learn Swedish, a tool for a better understanding of Swedish culture.
The Swedish vacation law entitles all employees to five weeks of vacation per year, and four consecutive weeks during June, July, or August. Your contract may include extra vacation days.
Reward program.
Free access to LKAB's own gym and our partners' facilities in Norrbotten.
Wellness allowance and educational support, along with access to an art association, leisure club, mountain cabins, and family activities.
Enhanced parental pay with up to 90% of your regular salary for up to six months (after one year of employment).
Support and assistance in cases of illness or questions about work environment, health, wellness, and rehabilitation.
Compensation for dental care and protective eyewear, including terminal glasses.
Opportunity to apply for scholarships for both your and your children's studies
Access to our pension and insurance program with favourable rates.
