Senior Medical Specialist International Pharmacovigilanc.

Reports to Head Global Services.

AIM OF POSITION:
To lead a 1 year project on the implementation and evaluation of international quality outcomes assessment of medicines safety monitoring by pharmacovigilance professionals intended to guide them in their overall professional performance. For this assignment UMC requires a clinician with extensive experience in general internal medicine as well as in clinical and academic pharmacovigilance in a low income country setting, preferably in sub-Saharan Africa. The work requires experience in international public health collaborations as well as in-depth knowledge of WHO and MSH pharmacovigilance indicators/assessment tools.

OTHER TASKS AND ASSIGNMENTS:
• Participate in UMC capacity building activities in low and middle income countries; attend and present at relevant conferences/trainings.
• Be the UMC expert representative in international /WHO committees/meetings on pharmacovigilance indicator implementation and impact assessment
• Advise UMC staff/external partners and collaborators in clinical medical matters
• Advise on UMC signal detection process development, particularly ensuring the relevance of the work methodology for low and middle income settings.

EDUCATION:
Medical specialist degree in clinical pharmacology/general medicine Registered MD with at least 10 years post graduation clinical experience Expert knowledge of pharmaceutical/general medicine, including pharmacovigilance, academic professor level 10+ years experience working in an international environment related to drug safety Extensive experience in data analysis, evaluation of safety data and the preparation of safety reports Extensive experience in medical reviewing/scientific paper Writing Experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry (in particular Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance) Experience with active surveillance methods/Cohort Event Monitoring reporting and signal analysis English-fluent written and oral Experience as epidemiologist for national health regulator or public health program.

Understands the principles of the Pharmaceutical environment including Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Research and Drug Safety, and product development around pharmacovigilance.
