Senior Medical Advisor with nephrology experience needed for launch preparation of new drug class for treatment of hyperkalemia.
The arena
AstraZeneca Nordic-Baltic is an affiliate of AstraZeneca. There are offices in all 7 countries within the Nordic-Baltic region. AstraZeneca Nordic-Baltic is among the EU6 markets in Europe giving a lot of visibility in the global and regional part of the organization.
The cardiovascular team covers both the cardiovascular portfolio as well as hyperkalemia of which the latter is involving both nephrology and cardiology. AstraZeneca wants to increase the nephrology focus in order to support a successful launch for a new class of compound for the treatment of hyperkalemia.
The role
The role is Nordic and can be based in any Nordic AstraZeneca office. The Sr medical advisor will be the informal team lead (no direct reports) and coordinator of the medical team with currently medical advisors in each Nordic country.
The Sr medical advisor will be responsible for the medical strategy in line with the global strategy and local insights and market conditions.
The Sr medical advisor will be the scientific lead within the team.
The position is office based, but there will be a large part of external work engaging with Key External Experts across Nordics.
Currently there is a role for the Sr medical advisor in the Global Medical Team where Nordics are one of two European representatives. In the Global Medical Team the global medical strategy and global medical activities like e.g. studies are decided.
There is a strong need for exceptional cross-functional skills as there will be a close collaborations with other functions within AstraZeneca, like clinical, marketing, sales, etc.
Minimum requirements
Master degree in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry or relevant natural sciences
Thorough knowledge or experience within the pharmaceutical industry and/or the Medical Affairs function
Proven solid experience of the disease area of nephrology/electrolyte disorders
Excellent knowledge in English language and fluent in at least one of the Nordic languages
Excellent understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, health care systems and payer structures in the Nordic countries
Possesses business oriented thinking, and can apply this without compromising the scientific elements of the work
