Job description
The Senior Manager has an overall management role for the International Policy team. The individual will have a shared responsibility for developing and coordinating international policy content across Swedish Water House and SIWI at large, and also manage the IP team's operations and resources, maintaining external partnerships, and manage a small team. The Senior Manager will work closely with SIWI's Executive Director and will be supported and supervised by the Director of Swedish Water House.
Areas of responsibility
Responsible for managing the IP team in the SWH/IP department, including direction, execution, and assessment of activities and projects related to IP's thematic priorities.
Responsible for strategic and programmatic planning, resource management including budgeting and financial tracking, knowledge management and reporting.
Develop and maintain external partnerships with donors and strategic partners, regularly communicate progress, and identify new opportunities for partnerships.
Develop content on water's role in climate and 2030 Agenda policies and processes in the form of policy briefs, op-eds, blogs, and other written or digital products.
Coordinate content/expertise input from across SWH and SIWI, as well as from external partners.
Lead the design, planning, and execution of key events in international processes in the form of side events, workshops and meetings; Attend and represent SIWI at key international events such as UN HLPF, UNGA, and UNFCCC conferences and meetings.
Contribute to fundraising as needed.

Content responsibility
Strategic development of annual work plan including staff and other resources for the team along three areas of work:
Climate and the 2030 Agenda: Develop, advise, and coordinate SIWI input and activities to engage with UNFCCC and SDG related processes; Initiate and lead collaborations with key external partners
Stockholm World Water Week: Advise on content production, key messaging, and speaker curation for the Opening and Closing plenaries; Lead on planning and execution of SIWI High Level Panel, and other sessions as needed; Work closely with Communications team on drafting SIWI speeches, messages, and outcome documents.

Experience and required skills
10 years of experience working with international multilateral policy in water, environment and/or climate. Experience from working with water policy in an international setting is desired, but not required. At least 10 years of policy development experience in national and international settings.
Comprehensive understanding of water, climate, and development issues, as well as their interlinkages.
Masters degree.
Well established international network in environmental and/or water policy.
5+ years of experience managing a team
Proven record in donor relations
Excellent communication skills
Fluency in English and preferably one of the other UN languages.

Staff responsibility
In the absence of the Department Director
Reporting responsibility:
Reports to Director of the department, who is ultimately responsible for department budget, staffing, work environment, and results vis-à-vis financers and the Executive Director.
