Senior Manager CAD & Mechanical Development

The department Process, CAD and PDM Development is responsible for current and future working methods around some of the main IT systems in R&D e g CATIA, Teamcenter, KDP and Team Minutes. The nature of the work spreads from a solid base around training and support, through Operational Development (OD) work, to strategy and concepts for future set ups. The work is organised in cross-functional projects together with Volvo Cars Group IT and other expert organisations. The projects are performed in close cooperation with the relevant Design & Release areas.

CAD & Mechanical Development is responsible for working methods around CATIA and TCVis, regarding mechanical integration, non-geometric data as well as supplier collaboration.
Within the group there is a team of skilled experts being responsible for the development of CAD Templates Factory at Volvo Cars. As manager for the group you contribute substantially to the efficiency in product development by securing a continued evolvement of CAD templates. A future challenge is to build competence within the group to address the interface between geometry and non-geometry such as functions and SW.

As senior manager for CAD & Mechanical Development you will be part of the Process, CAD and PDM Development management team, currently consisting of 9 persons. When working in this position you will gain a broad understanding of underlying mechanisms and complexity in Product Development. You will also build a broad interface with e g contacts in all Design & Release Areas and vehicle programs as well as external and internal IT suppliers.

Main responsibilities

* Lead, control and follow up the activities, cross R&D, within the area of responsibility
* Develop high competencies within the CAD & Mechanical Development area
* Develop and maintain working principles within the area, incl. subsets of Volvo Product Development Process (VPDS)
* Identify needs for development and secure the delivery of OD projects within CAD & Mechanical Development
* Form and drive a strategic path for CAD with Volvo Cars.
* Be a contributing member of the department management team

Required qualifications

* At least five years from prior manager positions
* Experience from CAD and Mechanical operational development.
* At least 15 years work experience from industry in the PLM area.
* Master of Science or several years of relevant experience
* Good understanding of Volvo Cars' product development process is meritorious
* Experience from Design & Release Areas
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
