We are now looking for a Senior Loads & Dynamics Engineer - Simulation to join our Flight Science team in Gothenburg. Do you have experience with aircraft loads and dynamics modelling and simulation and want to contribute to a more sustainable future?
Your mission
The Senior Loads & Dynamics Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, development, and certification of our aircraft. Given its electric nature and innovative design features, this may require unconventional approaches in modelling, analysing, and testing aircraft loads and dynamics. This position primarily concentrates on conducting flight mechanics simulations for static load calculations, will require close collaboration with different engineering teams, including systems and structures.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Determine the design airspeeds and flight envelopes for the A/C.
- Determine the static limit and ultimate flight conditions for the A/C using 6 DoF flight mechanics model.
- Procure the data source health for the simulation by a constant interaction with the different teams that provide inputs for the simulations: aerodynamics, performance, stability & controls, flight controls, safety, etc.
- Perform analyses to verify and validate the results from the simulations executed with the 6 DoF flight mechanics model.
- Generate technical documents to communicate the results of the simulations to the different stakeholders.
- Develop and improve the existing 6 DoF flight mechanics model, including the interaction of systems and structures. The activities involve physics (aerodynamics, mechanics), modelling techniques, testing and automation.
- Define methodologies to ensure compliance with regulations and design specifications.
- Support the improvement of models (low and high fidelity), tools (low and high fidelity), methods and processes within the Flight Science team. Including basic L&D analyses and tests.
- Support the implementation of the strategy for the L&D team in order to comply with the company's Master Phase Plan.
You will report to Head of Flight Science and belong to the Flight Science team. Your place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a relevant engineering discipline, within an aerospace OEM company environment, including the conceptual and preliminary design phase.
- Direct experience in the role of aircraft loads and dynamics engineering.
- Experience with aircraft development programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25).
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
- Experience with aircraft loads & dynamics modelling & simulation.
- Experience in modelling and simulation of static and ultimate loads in the A/C is required. Knowledge in modelling and simulation of A/C failures is a merit.
- Experience in 6 DoF flight mechanics modelling and vehicle simulation. Modelling experience in MATLAB/Simulink is preferred. Basic knowledge in flight control systems is a merit.
- Familiarity with aerodynamic data from different sources; semiempirical (DATCOM/ESDU etc), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Wind Tunnel Tests and Flight Tests.
- Proficient programming expertise. Knowledge in Python, and Octave is preferred.
- Experience working in a start-up environment is a merit.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others.
- Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry.
Education
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
We recommend you submit your application in English as soon as possible as selection and interviews are held continually.
