We are a leading European R&D center specializing in premium electric mobility technologies and solutions. Our work supports the development of innovative electric vehicles for a portfolio of world-renowned automotive brands, driving the future of sustainable mobility. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Light Designer to join our Design Studio in Gothenburg. You will play a key role in defining the lighting experience for our vehicles covering both interior and exterior lighting by designing, simulating, and prototyping advanced lighting concepts that blend brand identity, safety, and emotional impact. As part of the Technology & Innovation department, you will collaborate closely with teams in Exterior/Interior Design, CMF, UX, and Engineering to deliver innovative lighting solutions that meet regulatory and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop advanced lighting concepts for both interior and exterior vehicle systems, including ambient, functional, and communication lighting.
Integrate lighting solutions seamlessly into vehicle design, considering surfaces, gaps, joints, and materials, while balancing aesthetic appeal and technical constraints.
Translate brand identity into distinctive lighting signatures and dynamic effects such as welcome/farewell sequences, charging indicators, interior lighting themes, and ADAS-linked signals.
Use visualization, simulation, and VR tools to validate lighting effects, integration, and manufacturability.
Collaborate closely with teams in Design, CMF, UX, and Engineering to ensure lighting solutions meet regulatory, safety, and performance standards.
Lead presentations and prototype demonstrations to effectively communicate lighting concepts and design intent to internal stakeholders and external suppliers

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial/Product/Transportation Design, Interaction/Lighting Design, or a related discipline.
At least 5 years of professional experience in automotive lighting design or related fields (consumer electronics, architecture), supported by a strong portfolio.
Proficiency with lighting design and visualization software such as Blender and Adobe Creative Suite.
Proven ability to transform conceptual lighting ideas into feasible, manufacturable solutions in collaboration with suppliers and engineering teams.
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with excellent storytelling and presentation abilities.
Hands-on prototyping experience and basic knowledge of electrical/electronic principles are a plus.
Familiarity with automotive lighting regulations and compliance standards is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)
Experience with advanced interactive lighting technologies, including OLED panels, AR overlays, and projection/DLP systems.
Knowledge of optics, light guides, materials, and human factors related to vehicle interiors.
Previous collaboration with automotive design studios and Tier-1 suppliers.
Understanding of material-light interaction in interiors, including glare control and luminance planning.
