hela Sverige Viaplay Studios Animation creates, develops and produces animated storytelling. Our production technique is based on shooting realtime character animation with a motion capture setup in a 3D game engine environment.
We are a great team of engineers, animators, artists and storytellers, coming together under one roof in our studio in central Stockholm. We are growing fast, and we are now looking for a team member who will play a key role in our journey moving towards new technologies.

The Position
We are looking for a Senior Lighting Artist to join our amazing production team! Under the guidance of the Technical Director and Producers, on our CG animated projects, the Lighting Artist is tasked with lighting shots from start to finish as they evolve from preliminary lighting through final renders.
The main areas of responsibilities include decide a workflow, scope the work, light the scenes for realtime performance in the game engine, and act as a helping hand to the Layout Artists in final rendering.
Who we are looking for
• 5+ years of experience working in a professional environment with real-time lightning and/or rendering.
• Ability to lead and supervise other lighters/team members.
• Ability to craft a variety of lighting styles as necessitated by shot/sequences in a given project. Experience in photography is an asset.
• Strong understanding of principles of lighting (such as choice of light, placement of the light source, its direction and how to create the desired effect such as contrast and shadows). Knowledge of compositing a plus.
• Strong experience in realtime game engines such as Unreal and Unity.
• Experience in creating node-based shaders.
• Knowledge of Maya and rendering software such as Renderman, Redshift and/or Arnold. Ability to script is an asset.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
• Open to and encourages feedback and new initiatives. Shares information and techniques with team members.
• Solid work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to work under pressure. Self motivated and pro-active. Consistently strives to expand knowledge base.
• Efficient and detail oriented.
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to deliver lighting assignments per agreed upon specs and schedule.
• A strong passion for animated storytelling.
