You as a Senior Legal Counsel will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Sweden, Vasteras. You will be responsible for implementing the respective units' global strategy within the area of legal affairs. At the same time, you will provide professional advice on a broad range of legal and integrity issues relating to the Grid Integration business line particularly with regard to high value complex tenders and projects (i.e. HVDC Interconnector, offshore wind projects, Grid and Power Quality Solutions, etc.), the aim being to ensure full compliance with Group directives and instructions as well as local statutory provisions.
Your responsibilities
Providing expert legal advice and counsel over a broad range of issues affecting the Grid Integration business, especially for tenders and projects under execution within the portfolio of extremely complex power infrastructure projects, in all domestic and international legal aspects, in particular contract law.
Identifying legal issues of concern to the business and proactively develops effective legal strategies, mitigation actions and practical solutions in support of business activities.
Contributing to the review the tender preparation, risks identification, risk review, negotiations of contracts, framework agreements, partnerships, settlements, etc. all in coordination with key internal stakeholders.
Protecting and enforcing of company interests in negotiation with third parties, before government agencies as well as before state courts and arbitral tribunal domestically and abroad.
Collaborating with legal teams in globally, as well as with interdisciplinary project teams.
Promoting dispute avoidance, strategize, manages disputes and litigations both potential, and ongoing liaising, where necessary, with external law firms. Managing efficiently, external counsels and operate within allocated budget. Initiating actions for arbitration and litigation where necessary and provide documentation and witnesses; Optimizing the costs of external legal costs by handling all legal advice/opinions needed by the businesses and negotiating external lawyers' fees in cases where outsourcing is needed.
Meeting with customers, where required on legal and/or integrity matters. Negotiating of frame agreements and other contractual terms in collaboration with relevant business managers to achieve best commercial outcome for the organization.
Anticipating and identifying legal issues of concern to management and proactively develop effective legal strategies and practical solutions.
Monitoring legal affairs, including but not limited to litigations and activity reports.
Ensuring compliance with the applicable laws and regulations as well as Company internal regulations in various fields, in particular without limitation competition law, bribery & corruption.
Contributing to the development of Group directives/instructions based on local legislation, assist with implementation of legal and integrity directives/instructions.
Collaborating in Risk Management and other internal processes. Collaborating and supporting Regional Legal team.
Managing and supervising of external law firms along quality and budget targets. Training of Company employees in all legal matters.

Your background
A bachelor's degree in law.
5+ years of experience as a lawyer relating to grid system or major utilities construction/ engineering projects with a successful track record of handling complex international corporate and commercial transactions as well as significant claims and litigations.
Knowledge of governmental and commercial regulations and practices, working knowledge of FIDIC and offshore contracts.
Proven communication, drafting of contracts and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to travel.
Proficiency in English. Swedish is an advantage.
