We are looking for a senior lecturer in statistics for a permanent position at Örebro University School of Business.

Background
Örebro University School of Business is host to the department of statistics at Örebro University and offers courses and study programmes in statistics at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. In addition to the Bachelor's Programme in Statistics, courses are offered on the Programme for Business and Economics, on several social science programmes, as well as on programmes within healthcare, natural sciences and engineering. At the master's level, a two-year study programme in statistics, which has been awarded 'European Master in Official Statistics' (EMOS) by Eurostat, is also offered. The master's programme offers specialisation towards econometrics or data science. The department also offers courses on the Master's Programme in Economics and Econometrics, and the Master's Programme in Finance.

Within the department, research is mainly conducted with a focus on econometrics, time series analysis, Bayesian statistics, as well as survey methodology and statistics production. Research is undertaken with close links to applied fields, including collaborations with Statistics Sweden and the department of economics at the university.

Duties and responsibilities
This appointment as senior lecturer is combined with a fixed-term appointment as head of the division for statistics. The role as head of division is part-time, corresponding to 50% of full-time working hours. Normally, an appointment as head of division is for a term of 3 years with a possibility for extension.

At Örebro University, a senior lecturer is expected to spend their working hours on teaching at all levels, research, and any associated public engagement activities. In addition to education, research and collaboration, duties and responsibilities include development work, administration and continuing professional development. Moreover, teaching encompasses supervision, examination, course development, planning and evaluation.

As head of division at the School of Business, you are expected to assist the head of school and to work together with other heads of division. You are expected to contribute to the operations and cater for developments within the university as a whole. In undertaking their duties and responsibilities, our heads of division are assisted by various support functions. Within the school, these include the school management team, heads of subject and programme coordinators. At a central administrative level, the support available includes leadership training as well as HR and finance support.

Your role as head of division for statistics entails:

• being responsible, based on directives given by the head of school, for the quality, staff and finance of the division,
• being responsible for planning and overseeing staffing among the division's teaching staff,
• actively participating in recruitment matters within the division,
• conducting reviews of employee performance and salaries with the members of staff within the division,
• being responsible for systematic work environment management within the division in accordance with the distribution of responsibilities that apply,
• leading and sending out invitations to department/divisional meetings or similar,
• promoting an environment defined by gender equality and equal opportunities, and
• collaborating with programme coordinator(s) and head(s) of subject on matters such as the development, pedagogy and quality of the subject.

Qualifications
Those qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer are applicants who have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a doctoral degree in the subject matter or have the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the position and the duties that it will involve.

A general eligibility criterion for teaching staff at Örebro University is that they have completed courses on teaching and learning in higher education corresponding to 10 weeks. Knowledge and skills equivalent to such courses may also be assessed to establish whether these provide eligibility.
