hela Sverige The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Department of Health and Rehabilitation, Speech and Language Pathology Unit organizes the speech and language pathology programme (240 credits) with 100 full time undergraduate students, doctoral studies (7-8 PhD students) and research in speech and language pathology. The unit comprises 10 teachers and researchers holding a PhD. The research is focused both on acquired and developmental communication disorders.
SUBJECT AREA DESCRIPTION: Speech and language pathology is defined as language- voice, speech- and swallowing disorders and their treatment. The discipline describes and explains the different types of communicative difficulties caused by language-, voice- or speech disorders, their assessment and intervention and their effects on a person's personality, health and quality of life. JOB ASSIGNMENTS: The position entails above all teaching phonetics and linguistics connected to speech and language pathology, including course administration and development. Supervising of master's theses may also be included.
ELIGIBILITY: The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. PhD degree and demonstrated pedagogical skills. ASSESSMENT: Pedagogical skills is considered most important, followed by scientific and administrative skills. In particular, experience in teaching and supervising within the areas of phonetics/linguistics and speech and language pathology will be taken into consideration. The candidate is expected to have a professional degree in speech and language pathology (logopedexamen). The successful candidate may also be asked to complete an educational training program within the first two years of employment.
