www.medicine.gu.se We are looking for a lecturer in public health science for the section of Epidemiology and Social Medicine (EPSO). The section works at several levels and in collaboration with different institutions in society to increase knowledge on causes behind the unequal distribution of health in different social groups and how these differences can be prevented. EPSO has a large teaching responsibility wihtin bachelor and master programs in public health but also in social medicine, global health and community pharmacy. Further we are involved in research courses. We have an active international collaboration. Research groups at EPSO work with Lifestyle and disease across the lifespan, Mental health, working life and social security, From prescription to outcomes and Health equity.
Senior Lecturer in Public Health Sciences
SPECIFIC SUBJECT DESCRIPTION: Public health science concerns population health at local, national and international levels. The focus is factors that influence health development in society such as poverty, social injustice, gender, ethnicity and life style.
JOB ASSIGNMENTS: The work consists of teaching and responsibility for courses including collaboration with other teachers in planning, organizing and administer courses in the public health programs. Teaching as lecturer in other courses than those responsible for is part of the position. Student contacts, pedagogic development and collaboration with relevant agents inside and outside academia are also included in this position. Interprofessional teaching and collaboration with other programs at the bachelor level within the Sahlgrenska Academy can come into question.
ELIGIBILITY: The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. PhD degree in relevant scientific discipline and shown pedagogical skills.
ASSESSMENT: Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. The first assessment criterion is pedagogic skills. Great importance will be given applicants with experience of teaching and course responsibility. The fulfilment of higher pedagogical education is a merit. Good knowledge in epidemiology and experience of epidemiological databases are qualifying as well as knowledge in health promotion, global health and human rights.
