The Institute of Health and Care Sciences offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as individual academic courses within the first and second cycle of higher education. Basic training courses for nurses and radiographers lead both to a professional degree and a bachelor's degree. Training of midwives and specialist nursing with different orientations are professional registration in combination with master's degree. All professional programs lead to professional registration. Moreover, courses are offered at the advanced level, which give opportunity for continued studies to a master's degree in one of the institute's main topics; nursing, reproductive and perinatal health, radiography and health care pedagogics. The institute offers a postgraduate program leading to a PhD degree in Health Care Sciences.
SPECIFIC SUBJECT DESCRIPTION
In nursing knowledge is developed about health and a good life despite illness or disability and a peaceful and dignified death. In nursing, it is not illness or disability, but person's experience, interpretation and reactions to illness and disease that is focus.
JOB ASSIGNMENTS: The senior lecturer position includes teaching, being a supervisor and examiner as well as being an assistant programme supervisor for the first cycle (undergraduate) nursing programme. Teaching in the second cycle (postgraduate) and third cycle (doctoral level) may occur. The position as assistant programme supervisor implies that the position holder will lead the continuous development and specialisation of the programme's content. Furthermore, it is expected that the assistant programme supervisor, together with the course coordinators, education committee and managers will aid in the processing of inquiries regarding the quality of the programme. The position as course coordinator includes the development and coordination of intended learning outcomes, teaching activities, forms of examinations and criteria for grade assessment in relation to the content and purpose of the course, as well as to current pedagogical research. Furthermore, it includes the quality assurance of the courses based on validated methods of evaluation. The position also requires an active participation in the work to reach the department's goal and operational plan, as well as in joined meetings and activities at the department. Additionally, it will also be expected that the post holder will be active in the initiation and application of external research funding.
ELIGIBILITY: The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. PhD Degree, shown pedagogical skills and qualification as a registered nurse.
ASSESSMENT: Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. The first assessment criterion is pedagogical skills and scientific skills. In the assessment, great importance will be given to experience of programme supervision, the quality and width of teaching experience, mostly within nursing programmes, as well as current research in the field. Experience of supervision of thesis, experience in leading or participating in funding applications and clinical experience is meritorius. Ability for cooperation and flexibility within both teaching and student groups, as well as an administrative ability will be considered. The successful applicant may also be asked to complete an educational program within the first year of employment.
