The Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg hereby announces a permanent position at 30 % of full time as:
Senior lecturer in Musical Performance and Interpretation - flute

The Academy of Music and Drama is the largest department at the Faculty of Fine, Applied, and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg. The building known as "Artisten", adjacent to the main square in Gothenburg, Götaplatsen, is the workplace of our student body of 600 and our staff of 200. Our students participate in a wide spectrum of programmes, and are training to become composers, musical-performers, musicians of many different kinds, music and theatre teachers, opera singers and actors.
The Academy also carries out developmental work, postgraduate education and research as well as filling a comprehensive, externally orientated function.
The subject of musical performance specializing in interpretation encompasses tuition in voice and instruments. Interpretation encompasses tuition in all forms of musical activity in artistic contexts irrespective of genre, and it covers many kinds of field from traditional performance praxis to historically informed praxis and personal artistic interpretation.
The appointment is situated within the Bachelor of Arts programme with classical orientation as well as within the Master of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts programme, specializing in symphony orchestra musicianship. Work assignments may also occur within other specializations.
One-to-one tuition and master class tuition in the flute constitute the main work assignments within the subject of interpretation (instrument: flute), as well as ensemble and chamber music in certain cases. Workshops are also used, as are group tuition and other types of integrated tuition. The appointment assumes the ability to take and develop new initiatives pedagogically and artistically, at the basic as well as the advanced levels. Administrative assignments may also occur, for example the carrying out of auditions for admission and work on study plans. Apart from this, the employee is expected to carry out work on pedagogical or artistic development, or else research.
Eligibility
A person is qualified for the appointment of senior lecturer in fine, applied and performing arts according to the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance as follows,
Ch 4 4;
• he/she is a person who demonstrably possesses a combination of pedagogical proficiency, a doctorate in fine, applied and performing arts and artistic proficiency or some other professional capability that is of significance for the subject field and the work assignments included in the appointment.
Requirements for the appointment in question:
• Having shown artistic proficiency in the subject field
• Documented experience of teaching at the university level or the equivalent
