At the Institute of Biomedicine, cell and organism biology in health and disease are in focus. More information about the institution's activities can be found on our website: biomedicine.gu.se.Department of Infectious Diseases, which belongs to Institute of Biomedicine, comprises Infection Medicine and Clinical Microbiology. The research spans from basic to clinical research and includes pathogenic and commensal microbes, inflammation, antibiotic resistance and infections. The Department has a broad and varied teaching assignement covering infectious diseases and clinical microbiology at the medical, pharmacy, nursing, and biomedical technician programmes. The department is co-localized with the Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and reseach and teaching are carried out in a translational milieu.Subject areaMedical Microbiology with specialization in Infection Control and Hospital Hygiene.Subject area descriptionThe subject comprises transmission of microorganisms within the health care system and in the community, selection and transmission of resistance to antimicrobials and prevention of hospital- and community-acquired infections.Job assignmentsThe applicant will be expected to take a leading role in the novel Nordic educational programme in Medical Microbiology with Specialization in lnfection control and Hospital Hygiene that will be launched September 2019. The tasks will include teaching, curriculum development and examination. The teaching language will be a Nordic language, such as Swedish, Danish or Norwegian, as well as English.The applicant is also expected to conduct research at the international level within an area relevant to the field.The position also involves supervision of students at the Masters and PhD level, outreach to the society, as well as administrative tasks.EligibilityThe qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.The applicant should have a PhD degree within a relevant subject and proven pedagogical skills.Qualification within a relevant healthcare profession, such as nurse, physician, dentist, or biomedical technician is a requirement.AssessmentRegulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.Scientific and educational skills will be considered as equally important as merits for the position. As scientific skills, supervision of PhD students, publications in international renowned scientific journals, as well as having obtained research financing in open competition, are considered as merits. As pedagogic skills, experience in course development and pedagogic leadership are considered to be of special importance. The holder of the position should be able to teach in a Nordic language (Swedish, Norwegian, Danish), as well as English,In addition, the applicant's experience regarding administrative tasks and outreach to society will be considered, alongside with skills in cooperation and communication.The successful applicant who has not undergone the University teaching staff training courses at the University of Gothenburg is expected to complete such educational training courses or to have equivalent qualifications from another University validated within the first year of employment.EmploymentThe employment is a full time permanent position and is located at The Institute of Biomedicine. First day of employment is by agreement.Further informationThe position might at a later time-point be converted to a combined position with in a clinical relevant area, such as nurse, physician, dentist, or biomedical technician.
