At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, communications officers, network technicians and engineers. Here we have the research specialisations of Embedded Systems, and Innovation and Product Realisation. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Position description
This position as Senior Lecturer is related to our research and teaching in the area product and production development which focus methods and processes for conducting effective development work as well as on tools that facilitates and streamlines the work.
As a senior lecturer in product realization you are expected to organize, teach and examine courses mainly at the bachelor and master level but also for courses for professionals. Supervision and examination of thesis work is included in the position. Active collaboration with other teachers in the teacher team is expected as well as you are expected to follow developments in your field of specialization.
As a senior lecturer, you are also expected to develop your research field. The position requires to actively act to create new funding, applications for research grants, and to participate in strengthening the research and managing of projects in collaboration with industrial and academic partners. We would like to see a research profile that strengthens our ambitions to contribute to the development of the next generation of intelligent production systems. ¨
Teaching is held in Swedish and English. We expect from our senior lecturers that they work actively with the development of our students learning abilities. This also includes to consider new pedagogical approaches and a strong emphasis on the students learning need.
The position includes participation and development of strategic ongoing activities, co-production with external stakeholders and MITC (Mälardalen Industrial Technology Center).
We also appreciate candidates who are willing to expand our effort to establish research or educational collaboration with universities in foreign countries. Internationalization is one of the important strategic focus areas as well as sustainability and gender equality.
Qualification requirements
The qualification requirements for appointment as a Senior Lecturer are both documented teaching skills and also a degree of Doctor, or equivalent academic competence or other professional qualifications of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties included in the appointment.
To be qualified for appointment as a Senior Lecturer the applicant must have demonstrated the academic skills and teaching abilities required for the appointment. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.
The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be well documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.
The applicant should have completed ten weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. A person appointed as a Senior Lecturer but lacking training in higher education teaching and learning will be offered in-house training during the first year. The course in higher education teaching and learning at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.
Proven track-record and documentation of planning, execution and development of courses, course modules, and programs.
Good communicative abilities in both Swedish and English are a requirement since teaching in both Swedish or English are part of the position.
