A position as senior lecturer in forest conservation biology is open at the faculty of forest sciences located at the Dept. of Ecology in Uppsala.

The department is situated in the Ecology Centre in Uppsala, where we conduct internationally recognized research, environmental monitoring and education. At Dept. of Ecology, research and education are conducted for sustainable forest and agricultural production and efficient biological conservation. Our research about populations, communities and ecosystems constitutes a base for studying the influence of changed land use and climate on animals, plants, soils nutrient status, and greenhouse gas balances. Solutions are sought that will mitigate climate change, preserve threatened species, benefit biological diversity and ecosystem services, and control pests in forest and agricultural landscapes as well as in urban areas. Subject description: The subject area contributes to knowledge needed when making decisions related to biodiversity in forest. Studies on the effects of different land use on flora, fauna and ecosystem function are central parts of the subject area and are conducted at different spatial and temporal scales. In the applied research, possible management and policy alternatives are developed and tested. External collaboration with the surrounding society is an important part of the subject area. Research aiming at producing ecological knowledge needed to develop the more applied research is also important.

• be scientifically skilled in relation to the content of the employment, and
• be able to teach in Swedish and in English.

Assessment criteria: In the selection process among qualified applicants, equal weight will be given to scientific skills and educational skills.
