This is a fixed-term, part-time employment of about 55 % at the School of Business, Engineering and Science for the period 2018-09-15--2019-01-31.
We are looking for a substitute senior lecturer, for the Department of Environmental and Biosciences, with an interest in teaching at first and second cycle levels and with specific competence within the area of exercise physiology. Most of the courses will be taught during November-December with written exams in January 2019 and exact starting date and the duration of the employment is therefore flexible.
Duties:
- Course coordination, teaching and supervising at first and second cycle levels in exercise physiology as well as relatedg subjects in biomedicine. Teaching assignments include lectures, seminars and practical exercises in the human movement laboratory
Teaching will be in Swedish and/or English. Lectures. Administrative tasks are included in the employment.
Requirements:
Documented pedagogical skills and a PhD or equivalent scientific competency or other professional skill of importance with regard to the subject content of the employment and the work tasks included in the employment are prerequisites for the position.
Other qualifications The applicant has a PhD in exercise physiology or related subject and experience in teaching, research and collaboration within the employment specialisation. The applicant should be structured in work, independent, have collaborative skills, keep deadlines and be interested in working in multidisciplinary groups and projects.
Meritorious for the position:
- Previous experience in teaching at higher institutions in exercise physiology or related areas
- Education in Teaching and learning in higher education
- Experience of course administration
Assessment criteria: The assessment criteria for appointment as a senior lecturer shall be the degree of the expertise required as a qualification for employment. As much attention shall be given to the assessment of teaching expertise as to the assessment of other qualifying criteria laid down above. Each higher education institution determines itself what assessment criteria are otherwise to apply to the appointment of a senior lecturer. Ordinance (2010:1064).
Halmstad University has decided on the following assessment criteria (in addition to scientific and pedagogical skills) upon the employment of senior lecturers: Leadership ability and administrative skills as well as an ability to collaborate with the surrounding community and communicate research and development work.

- Pedagogical skills must be documented and include pedagogical background, the applicant's basic view on pedagogy, how the applicant works with his/her own and the students' learning development and contributes to pedagogical development etc. Examples of documentation are grades from courses in Teaching and learning in higher education and other pedagogical training, evaluations, self-evaluations, pedagogical awards, course and conference programmes, teaching material, certificates and reports on pedagogical skills etc.
- Leadership and administrative skills should be well documented through certificates and/or grades. These can also be complemented by giving references.
- Collaboration with the surrounding community should be well documented through certificates and/or grades. These can also be complemented by giving references.
- A maximum of eight (8) cited publications which should be attached in their entirety in pdf-format.
- Salary claim (salaries are set individually at Halmstad University)
