We are looking for a senior lecturer, for the Department of Environmental and Biosciences, with an interest in teaching at first and second cycle levels and with specific competence within the area of exercise biomedicine and who is conducting research in exercise biomedicine. Today, our research in exercise biomedicine covers topics such as immunology, effects of physical activity on chronic diseases, sports physiology, biomechanics, movement and health. The research group is part of the Rydberg Laboratory for Applied Sciences (RLAS) and it has three research areas; biosystems, material systems and energy systems. Exercise biomedicine is part of biosystems where the research spans from the nanometre scale, through individual cells and cell membranes, organs and entire organisms, up to the local and global environment. There is at the present time 1 full professor, 4 senior lecturers and 2 lecturers in biomedicine. The RLAS group has a core laboratory facility and host today 7 full professors and 20 senior lecturers.
Duties
- Course coordination, teaching and supervising at first and second cycle levels in exercise biomedicine as well as related subjects.
- Carrying out your own high quality research, applying for external funding and contributing to the research environment.
- Publishing results in prestigious journals.
- Participating in and developing collaborations with collaborative partners
- Management and research administration assignments may be included in the employment.
Teaching will be in Swedish and/or English. Administrative tasks are included in the employment.
Requirements
Documented pedagogical skills and a PhD or equivalent scientific competency or other professional skill of importance with regard to the subject content of the employment and the work tasks included in the employment are prerequisites for the position.
In addition, Halmstad University requires a senior lecturer to have taken a course in teaching and learning in higher education or in other ways have acquired equivalent competency. In those cases the applicant does not meet with these requirements, they should be met within two years of employment.
Other qualifications
The applicant has a PhD in exercise physiology or related subject and experience in teaching, research and collaboration within the employment specialisation. The applicant should be structured in work, independent, have demonstrated collaborative skills, keep deadlines and be interested in working in multidisciplinary groups and projects. Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria for appointment as a senior lecturer shall be the degree of the expertise required as a qualification for employment. As much attention shall be given to the assessment of teaching expertise as to the assessment of other qualifying criteria laid down above. Each higher education institution determines itself what assessment criteria are otherwise to apply to the appointment of a senior lecturer. Ordinance (2010:1064).
Halmstad University has decided on the following assessment criteria (in addition to scientific and pedagogical skills) upon the employment of senior lecturers: Leadership ability and administrative skills as well as an ability to collaborate with the surrounding community and communicate research and development work.

- b) Pedagogical skills must be documented and include pedagogical background, the applicant's basic view on pedagogy, how the applicant works with his/her own and the students' learning development and contributes to pedagogical development etc. Examples of documentation are grades from courses in Teaching and learning in higher education and other pedagogical training, evaluations, self-evaluations, pedagogical awards, course and conference programmes, teaching material, certificates and reports on pedagogical skills etc.
- c) Leadership and administrative skills should be well documented through certificates and/or grades. These can also be complemented by giving references.
- d) Collaboration with the surrounding community should be well documented through certificates and/or grades. These can also be complemented by giving references.
- A maximum of eight (8) cited publications which should be attached in their entirety in pdf-format.
