The School of Business and Economics hosts the economics discipline at Linnaeus University. The subject of economics provides study programmes and courses at first- and second-cycle level and at the doctoral level. First-cycle education is mainly provided in the Faculty's regular study programmes, such as the economics programme, the business and economics programme, the marketing programme and bachelor's and master's programmes in economics.
Linnaeus University has a long tradition of labour market research. Part of this research is conducted at the Linnaeus Knowledge Platform Demographic Change and the Public Sector, which works at the intersection of labour, public and demographical economics.
Placement location: Växjö. Most work in the position will be performed at the placement location, but some duties may also be performed at the Campus in Kalmar.
Subject area: Economics.
Scope of the appointment: At least 50%. Temporary employment for 6 months, starts 2022-01-01
Job description
The appointment involves planning, teaching and examination at first- and second-cycle level and doctoral level in study programmes and freestanding courses in economics. Teaching is in Swedish and English, both on campus and via our online study centre. Teaching also includes course development, course responsibility and supervision of students. Research and active participation in the further development of the research environment is a requirement for the appointment. The job description includes collaboration with other teachers/researchers and interaction with society, at both national and international level, as well as active participation in the department's internal and external work. Cooperation skills and flexibility are of great importance - both in relation to student groups and within work teams and research environments.
Required qualifications
An applicant is qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer if they have demonstrated educational expertise and also hold a doctorate or possess corresponding scientific expertise with respect to the subject content of the appointment and the work duties included in the appointment.
Under Linnaeus University's appointment regulations educational expertise applies both to the planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching and to supervision and examination.
To be qualified for this position, applicants must also have:
• documented scientific work in the field of public economics (both theoretical and empirical)
• documented ability to teach micro, labour economics and mathematics
• documented experience with Stata tutorials
• documented experience with MATLAB or Mathematica tutorials
Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria that apply to an appointment as a senior lecturer are the applicant's degree of expertise in the qualification requirements for the appointment. Equal attention is paid to the assessment of educational expertise and the assessment of scientific expertise.
Additional grounds of assessment:
• Scientific independence.
• Capacity for educational innovation and flexibility in teaching at all educational levels
• Great weight will be placed on the applicant's interest in participating in the everyday work of the department.
When the university appoints new teachers, it has to select the applicants who are judged, in a qualitative holistic assessment of competence and expertise, to be most capable of performing and developing the work duties concerned and contributing to the successful development of its activities.
Weighting of evaluation criteria
Educational expertise, scientific expertise and cooperation skills are given equal weight in the assessment. Active consideration is also given to the additional grounds of assessment.
