hela Sverige Mälardalen University (MDH) announces a new position as a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science specializing in software testing. The School of Innovation, Design and Engineering (IDT) at MDH conducts research and education with a focus on real-time and embedded systems. The school is strengthening its activities in the field of software testing; hence a senior lectureship in this field is now advertised. The distribution of teaching and research depends on the current funding situation and actual need, but will in the closest future be around 70% research and 30% teaching.
The tasks of the position mainly consist of research, supervising PhD students, and teaching at undergraduate level, especially in the area of software testing. In addition, the appointment requires to actively seek for funding, research grants, and to actively participate in strengthening the research and managing of projects in collaboration with industrial and academic partners.
The research will focus on industry-relevant research on software testing mainly within the MegaM@Rt2 research project. Activities will include development, refinement and evaluation of software test techniques (e.g., automated test generation, mutation-based testing), as well as execution of empirical studies (controlled experiments, case studies) in the area of software testing. Candidates with experience in testing research in the transportation domain and participation in research projects related to this area are encouraged to apply.
The qualification requirements for appointment as a Senior Lecturer are both documented teaching skills and also a degree of Doctor, or equivalent academic competence or other professional qualifications of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties included in the appointment.
To be qualified for appointment as a Senior Lecturer the applicant must have demonstrated the academic skills and teaching abilities required for the appointment. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.
The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be well documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.
The applicant should have completed ten weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. A person appointed as a Senior Lecturer but lacking training in higher education teaching and learning will be offered in-house training during the first year. The course in higher education teaching and learning at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.
In general terms the assessment criteria shall be based on the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well.
The same attention shall be paid to the assessment of teaching skills as to the assessment of academic skills.
