Training of biomedical laboratory scientists are an important part of the education offered at
the Institute of Biomedicine. The institute is responsible for the program in biomedical
laboratory science and offers 19 of the 28 course modules in the program.

Specific subject description
Biomedical Laboratory Science is a theoretical and laboratory knowledge area, with an
emphasis on laboratory and research methodology of diagnostic purposes. Biomedical
Laboratory Science is the major for biomedical scientist and set up as the main area for
bachelors and masters degrees.
Job assignments
The position includes extensive teaching in the biomedical scientist program. The teaching
comprises morphological methods, scientific methodology and molecular biology.
The employee will also be course coordinator and examiner for course modules within the
program. The course coordinator will be responsible for managing and developing courses
within the program. The employment may include assignment as environmental coordinator at
the institute.
The program in biomedical laboratory science aims to work closely with the clinical diagnostic
laboratories. The candidate should have a clear connection to the healthcare sector. For the
current position the demand is primarily related to clinical pathology.
The position will partly be financed by the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and part of the
work is based in the Clinical Chemistry laboratory at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
The employee shall also undertake research in the context of the employment.
Eligibility
The qualifications for teachers is given in Chapter 4, Section 3-4§ the higher education
ordinance.
For a position as senior lecturer the applicant must have a PhD-degree and demonstrated
pedagogical skills. The applicant must hold a qualification as a biomedical laboratory scientist.
Assessment
Criteria for employment as teacher is given in chapter 4, section 3-4§ in the Higher education
ordinance. Primarily, scientific and pedagogical skills will be considered, second clinical and
administrative skills. For this position experience of leading and developing training and
GU - Vacant position courses will be especially considered. Experience/employment in a clinical laboratory/clinical
pathology will be a highly compelling merit. Ability to cooperate will also be considered.
