Mälardalen University (MDH) announces a new position as a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Signal processing. The School of Innovation, Design and Engineering (IDT) provides an international research-intensive environment with strong focus on Embedded Systems (ES). IDT is hosting a large number of national and international research projects, in many cases in close collaboration with industrial partners.
This position addresses the ESS-H core area Biomedical Signal Processing, to some extent also the areas Biomedical Sensor Systems. A particular focus will be on the design, implementation and evaluation of signal processing algorithms. This includes traditional signal processing in the time and frequency domains, detection and removal of unwanted artefacts, e.g. movement artefacts and and environmental artefacts, from the measured signals, advanced sensor data analysis in the sensor nodes, motion analysis and development of inverse scattering algorithms for image reconstruction from microwave scattering data.
The senior lecturer will participate in the building of a large cross-subject research group with several senior researchers, with focus on systems-oriented research within the ESS-H research profile, in collaboration with industry and society, and in building and maintaining a large regional, national and international network. Cooperational abilities and experience of collaboration with industry and society is therefore important. The university does not provide any permanent funding for the position. Rather, the senior lecturer is expected to attract external funding to finance his or her own research activities as well as any group research activities. The senior lecturer's ability to attract external funding is therefore fundamental to the position.
Active involvement in the development of the ESS-H environment as well as the entire ES environment is expected.
The qualification requirements for appointment as a Senior Lecturer are both documented teaching skills and also a degree of Doctor, or equivalent academic competence or other professional qualifications of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties included in the appointment.
To be qualified for appointment as a Senior Lecturer the applicant must have demonstrated the academic skills and teaching abilities required for the appointment. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.
The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be well documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.
